My main Hammerhead stopped working so I disconnected it and threw it on the bench and plugged it back it. It spins up slowly (not much torque) and never reaches full speed.
I opened up the electrical box on it and noticed a big bulge on the start capacitor. Would a failed cap exhibit the described symptoms or is it likely that a winding is open or something?
The pump has been in service for 3 years non-stop. Fortunately I was able to plug in my other Hammerhead that used to run my closed loop, but it too has been in service for almost 3 years now.
I don't know what the life expectancy is of these pumps, but I would like to think it's more than 3 years of 24/7 operation.
Thanks
