Serial cable or Ethernet cable?

I just received my Aq III Pro and I am in the process of hooking it all up. I purchased Aquanotes too. I noticed the Pro didn't come with the serial connector cable but it did come with the ethernet cable. If I want to use aquanotes does anyone know if i need the serial cable too or can the Pro access the computer/aquanotes thru the ethernet cable and my home network?

Thanks,
Jay

Yep, Member No. 1 is absolutely right.

You need to set up the Net settings on the ACIII to give it an IP address etc. You should then be able to log onto it from a computer on your home network using the IP address you assigned.

As to aquanotes, you need to tell aquanotes the IP address you have set on the ACIII. When configuring Aquanotes, configure it for ethernet not for serial. In aquanotes, goto the Database option, then go to tank data base, then go to the config tab and within that tab you will see a section called interface. Instead of the RS232 interface button, select the TCP Aqua 3 button and additional options will appear for you to insert the IP address for the ACIII.
