Setting up 150 Gallon Tank

I have a 150 gallon undrilled tank that I am considering setting up as a reef tank.

I was wondering if anyone had ideas or suggestions on drilling this tank.

I also I would like to know if anyone has any extra equipment they are looking t part with pretty cheap.

Right now I am just considering setting it up.
I am trying to figure out cost of the hard goods and then stocking the tank.

Its an expensive venture even trying to do it cheap. I have nothing for sale but keep an eye on the boards here. Best of luck to you and I am sure there are folks that will help you along. There are folks here that can help you drill the tank where are you located.

I have a few pumps an an Octupus NW-150 skimmer.
I have two used Mag 7s and 1 new one.
I also have a new Mag 12.

HEY--I haven't drilled my stuff yet...I was going to drill 1" or whatever size hole a 1" bulkhead needs...if those will work, I can order a new diamond hole saw. I'll feel better if I use it for more than just my two holes!

I also am putting in a 150g tank in the wall. But for drilling, I would take it to a shop that will insure it if it breaks. That is an expensive tank if it breaks.

I doubt you will find a shop that will insure it if it breaks. Most will say we have never had a break while drilling, but I will not be responsible if it does break. If you locate one that will please let us know.

Allen is definitely right about shops. K&M in Huntsville said the very same thing.

A 1 inch bulkhead fitting requires a 1-3/4 inch hole. You should talk to John Newby about the inexpensive bulkhead fitting he and 8Ball bought to drill all the tanks in the back. They were very inexpensive as far as diamond coated bits goes. 8Ball had no problem drilling all the 20L and 30L tanks. I remember John had an extra bit awhile ago. If he already sold it to someone, John can probably get you another one.

Thanks for the replys!

I talked to John and he said he did not do it but knew someone that did for $20 a hole. I figure I will need 4 holes. I am really tossing around the idea of putting a internal filter across the back or maybe extending the stand putting a 6" sump across the back of the tank.
Has anyone done anything like this.

I was hoping maybe someone has already tried this so I know if it would work.?
