I recently tore down my FW 125 and brought in a pre-drilled 125 to set up as a SW tank. I have gotten tired of the hassle of dealing with a small SW tank and have been able to realize my dream of a 125 gal SW thanks to some HUGE deals offered to me by our LFS to get it up and running.
The tank has been running now for 10 days with a 2-2 1/2 in. sand bed. I have a sump running, 36" compact fluorescent light, and 2 36" Marineland LED lights.
My plan, when the tank is ready to be stocked, is to disassemble my 46 gal tank and transfer everything over to the 125. My sump at the moment is empty. As in no sand, rock or macro algae. When I take down the 46 gal, I was thinking of taking the top layer of sand and crushed coral and placing that in the sump. Is this idea half baked and looking for trouble or is a feasible idea that could benefit my new tank?
Thanks, Riv...
