Setting up a 28gal JBJ skimmer

HI people;

I just received a skimmer (JBJ) for my 28gal cube. How do I set this up, there are no instructions on it or in the box. Anything special? WHat should I expect?

I had issues with ammonia and water quality...cost me 4-5 snails and crabs. But things are stable now. I had cycled it but then I had an ammonia issue (Microbacter 7 cleared that right up.)
