Ok... New to the mantis shrimp, and was really wanting to get a nice looking spearer! I am going to be getting some 3/8" acrylic and making around a 20g tank for him (or her)! Was wondering how deep of a sand bed would be needed? I have seen some tanks with really deep beds, and others with not so deep beds. I know i'll need some LR in there, and maybe some PVC for a small burrow. How bid of PVC would I need? Is 3/4" ok? The lighting would just be a normal hood with a flourescent light... not too much light as I know they are sensative to lighting, and I do want him/her to be active during the day! What kind of filter is needed, and should i get a skimmer, or not even worry about it if it's going to only be a mantis tank? Any help is appreciated!!
