Yeah I agree... I am confused about what you mean before and after the tank...I mean the sump is all in the same place.

If you can put the macro above your main tank and let it gravity feed to the display below, many of the pods and other critters living in your refugium will fall down as food for your fish without being blended up by your return pump.
