Setting up new tank

Hi
I am going to setup my tank this weekend, I am using my Ehiem 2026 for mechanical and chemical filtration (ceramic at the bottom and phosphate in bag at the top) and wanted to know if I should use carbon as well. I have kept freshwater tropicals and only used carbon when needed but dont know whether it's needed in a marine tank. Any advice is much appreciated.

just dont make the same mistake I did and bought the one that has white crystals for ammonia cause it for fresh water only, black diamond Ive heard is a really good one, and if you want cloudiness to go away asap, I'd use it.

Thanks for that, I will put the carbon in a bag next to the phosphate remover on the top tray in the Ehiem.

I would recommend only running the phosphate and carbon media in there. Take the mechanical filtration out, no need for it and will build up nitrates, imo. If you are planning on having at least 1lb/gallon of live rock in the display there is no need for the bio media either. Just use it for flow and chemical filtration. ;)
