setup for Canon Powershot?

Hello all,
I've recently purchased a Canon Powershot S5 IS. How should i set this up to take pics of my tanks. Keep in mind i know nothing about cameras. I'm a point and shoot kind of guy. But i want to learn. Any help would be appreciated. Right now all i can get is blurry pics.
