Sex Ratio for Seahorses

Hi all,

I am currently in the process of setting up my first seahorse tank. I am probably looking to get around 4 H. barbouri for a 130L species specific tank. I was just wondering if there is a recommended sex ratio for these fantastic little guys? Would 1:1 be ok?

Thanks in advance!

Get what ever you want. If you want babies get pairs. If you don't want babies get all girls or all boys. The SH's dont care & will be happy as long as there are at least 2 of them. They are very social critter & will get lonely by them self.

Where will you be getting your H. barbouri from ? My male died of old age many months ago. I am thinking of getting a new herd.

If you decide to go with a same sex herd.....try to get all females. Males can have pouch problems that you don't need to deal with unless you intend to breed them. I have also noticed that my females are more social and active.
