Should I be culturing this or discarding it like a pest?

Is it leafy or stringy. I have some red macroalgae in my tank and its leafy. Everyone tells me it is good.

That looks like cotton candy algae, get rid of it as it can overtake your DT

Yea +1 to that.. i have a little bit I have noticed, but our yellow tang enjoys to eat that if he can find it.

That's actually why I thought about culturing it? I have tangs. I tried a sample and they devoured it.

Ya I am not sure.. I have some in my fuge, but nothing much in the DT. Our YT doesn't allow it to grow for too long.

Turbo snails love that stuff too and had tons of it my fuge. I put a couple a turbos in the fuge it was gone in a couple weeks

Ed, my only concern would be that stuff growing like a weed to the point where even a tang or two couldn't keep up.... that candy cane algae is awful..

Iits red turf algae amd turbo snails will demolish it. I had a ton in my sump and threw in 2. Turbos and it was clean in 3 days
