Should I pre-medicate new fish before introducing to DT?

For a FOWLR tank, as a matter of practice should I pre-medicate all new fish when in the QT tank prior to introduction to DT? If so, what medications?

I've been told both sides-some say to pre-medicate and others say don't. Some have said use PraziPro and Cupramine and some say no to Cupramine unless you see the actual ick.

Looking for proper advice from this forum.

Thanks.

I suggest tank transfer followed by at least three weeks of observation during which Prazipro x 2 is administered.

I wouldn't. But if you read above and do the tank transfer method, you won't need to treat for ich if you do TTM and then put the fish in a qt you know is disease free. I personally don't like copper unless necessary as it is a poison to fish, even in low doses. While low doses generally do not kill, I also try to avoid hanging out by X-ray machines as much as I can.

Appreciate all the responses!

If I understand the TTM-that's when you transfer everything from the DT to a hospital tank, right? How would TTM apply here if these are new fish (just restarting my tank after being down for a few years). These will be the first fish that go into the tank. Was going to QT them for 4 weeks and based on the posts above just dose with prazipro and not cupramine.

TTM requires two tanks (with the necessary, but minimal, life support). Fish are moved every 72 hours for a total of 4 transfers (not including the initial transfer).

You do TTM on all fish before they go in the DT. That is how you will know your DT is ich free.
