should i replace some of my sand?

I have had the sand for 10+ years...there has been an incident about 4 years ago when my daughter spilled some animal cookies into the tank...shame shame shame i know...i did numerous water changes when that happened.

Anyways should I replace some of my sand? I honestly do not feel I have any critters or life in the sand...maybe my goby has something to do with that but even before I added him I don't think there was any.

just because you dont see anything in your sand doesnt mean there isnt...theres billions of tiny bacteria in there that help break down fish waste and other things like that...id leave it

I used to get these little white bugs that got stuck to the filter pad at first but haven't seen any for years
