Show me your Aqua Clear Filter MOD

I want to add a fuge but am very scared to use the siphon method from below the main tank (my tank is not drilled). I don't think my husband would appreciate 50 gals of salt water running down the stairs into the living room if it malfunctions.

I recently saw something about turning a AC filter 110 into a HOB fuge. Please show me yours and explain how you did it.

I haven't done it yet, but I plan on doing it soon. Here is the thread with the step by step setup. Hopefully it works. I'm not too computer literate when it comes to message boards, etc. If it doesn't work, I think it is on the second page in the nano forum.

i did one. its pretty common to mod them in this type of way but there are many variations. i just added a single baffle to make more of a fuge on one side. i got the one needed peice of plexiglass cut a local glass shop and got some aquarium silicone at the same place, however some people use the sides that hold the sponge in the filter instead of getting a new peice. then i took the bottom of the sponge holder and cut it so it would fit over the waterfall part, so if i have macro algea, it would go over the waterfall and into my tank. heres some pics. i would highly recomend this, i have a 110 on my 20 gallon and its the only thing creating flow right now and its doing pretty good by its self, no real dead spots.

Do you have to leave the lid off? And do I need to add a heater? The water coming in from the tank is heated already. Do you have to add the baffle to keep things out of the impeller area?
