Hello all,

Am planning my aquascape right now and am having a hard time figuring out how big is 50 lbs of live rock.

So plz, can u help me out by showing your tank and tell me how much live rock is in there and what kind.

Thanks a lot!
Vincent

This is my 58 with about 65-70 pound of live rock.

Right after I re-did the tank, the bottom is pretty much all open caves,

Todd,

How'd you attach your rock, as it seems you must have had to as otherwise the bottow row at least doesn't look liek it'd be able to withstand...

I'm debating what to do with my rock in the next week. Not sure I want to glue it because well what if i ever had to remove a piece? Just curious, or if its just sturdy, or you used rods [kinda don't wanna drill it either].

Thanks,

Jeff

I think I just got really lucky, didn't glue it or anything, just placed it on top of each other. Believe it or not, it was the first try, and I dread the day I ever have to move it.

There is a decent sized piece at the left hand corner that is supporting most of it. Also the right hand side isn't open, just the middle.

Couple of older pictures ( taken with a flash that shows the "cave" )

Do you guys put the rock on the glass and put sand aroudn it? Or on the sad? It just seems on the sand it would be less stable.

Thanks

In my case the sandbed was down first, then I placed the rocks down.

Same here

From what i see for a ratio of 1 lbs per gallon you rill from 1/4 to 1/3 of the aquarium with rock.... That gives me a good idea! Thanks...

Keep em coming i can check your aquascape also :D

You are right, it is less stable if you put the rock on top of the sand. If you have any type of fish and/or shrimp that likes to dig and tunnel, the rocks can come tumbling down. Some people put eggcrate (light diffuser) on the bottom of the tank and rest the rock on that, then fill in the sand.
