Under $50? My LFS never has anything under $50 even a tiny small frag. you guys are so lucky.

You should go to Pacific East Aquaculture (Dr. Mac's); it's in MD as well. I've been there once and ordered from them numerous times. They're got great deals, and the health of the corals is top notch.

Don't mean to de-rail the topic. :D

No current closeups, but the list of great deals are as follows:

pink birdsnest - $10
yellow turbinaria- $5
yellow porites - $2
purple gorgonian - $5
forget the name gorgonian - Free
Red Planet- $20
Yellow Tabling Milli - $5
ORA blue polyp Digi - $5

Gotta love reef clubs!

Yes, I have been in their retail store once and it was nice. But 2 1/2 hours drive for me, I don't consider it as my LFS. :p

I feel your pain! Even the frag swaps are hard to find anything nice at that price. I just started watching on here of pieces which seem like much better deals. Just as an example I paid $90 for a 1" frag of red planet.

My club has auctions at the end of every meeting with corals that were donated. Everyone is pretty generous because we have all gotten good stuff out of the auction so its kind of a pay it forward deal. Bids always start at $2-$5 and if no one else wants it that night, there ya go. There are always a lot of $2 mushrooms and zoa's haha.

what is the second pics you have name??

thanks

Looks like a War Coral maybe.

I just picked up a frag pack from an RC member that was loaded with some sweet pieces. $16.50 per frag for a pack that included a Red Planet, German Blue Polyp acro, poker star, rainbow monti, among others. Does that count?

I posted this in another thread but this was my best score for $40

Echinata

Also in the Toronto area aquaculture peices regularly cost $65-35 ...and it is pretty normal for them to be $40. Although the echinata was a wild.

picked up a frag of sunset monti for 10$ as well as surf n turf for 7$ and monti stetosa for 5$ all at the same store...

Check your local club boards. I have always gotten good prices from fellow reefers on decent-sized (1+ inch) frags. No pics right now, but here are some examples:

1" Paletta pink-tip $12
3/4" red planet $15
1" Hawkins blue $10
Rainbow acan head $15

+1 for checking out local clubs or trying to network with local reefers. The best pieces I have ever bought were from fellow reefers tanks.

Tagging along for this thread. I see some people have gotten some great deals.

Blue purple acropora samoensis, candlelight acropora, imperial tri color acropora, ORA blue millepora, pink birds nest, ORA red planet, superman montipora for $140 total.
