This seems to be an unusual occurance I still have not gotten to the bottom of and sure many others have experienced also.
Certain more touchy zoas may be doing great for extended periods of time then all of a sudden close up and refuse to open shrink and start disappearing.
Ive had this happen to a colony of purple hornets wiping them out to leave 3 polyps, some blue colonies, solid reds and tends to be the rarer colours.
When and if some polyps decide to reopen they often shed a skin before coming back but recovery is slow if they do pull through.
I do not believe it to be anything to do with water parameters as it appears to happen at random times and often only effects individual frags or colonies even if you have the multiples of the same variety.
Has anyone experienced this and has anyone had any luck bringing them back?
Personally I think vitamin C dose show positive results as well as Iodine supplements however some still seem finicky.
Cheers
