I have had my coral banded shrimp for 1 year. Hes sick and i don't know what to do. laying on his side. front claws don't work. all other hands/feet work. I have been target feeding. Hes eating. Still continues to lay on his side hes been like this for a week. Please Help. Thanks :headwally:

I have 100g tank 30g sump. chocolate surgeonfish, CB shrimp, Six line wrasse, 3 berghia nudibranchs, 3 bangghi cardinals, emerald crab, brittle star, mushrooms, zoas and snails. Every thing in the tank is doing Great besides my cb shrimp. Tank water is all in check. I read in a book to day about encouraging my shrimp to molt. Good idea or not. IDK

Are you feeding it fresh food and a variety? If it's an pellet thats been on teh shelf for a year the shrimp may not be getting stuff like vitamin C or omega-3s that it needs to molt. Also, hows your hardness (KH). I'm not sure if water quality has much to do with shrimp being happy and molting but if you have really unbuffered water or super low calcium/magesium/iodine etc...might be a start. You doing water changes?

Also if it was right after a molt he could of been attacked or injured before his exoskeleton hardened. I've had that happen before to my shrimp.
