Sick Foxface

Hey everyone! I am pretty new to the phoenix reefing scene, recently moved from vegas. i have been reefing for about 8 yrs now, however I need need a little help here, as I have not seen this before.

Unfortunately, my fox face has abruptly become rather lethargic and not eating. I have also noted some small brown spots on both sides. ( See photo) This is different from his stress or sleep color changes, and are persistent and see to be getting worse. I recently also just lost my clown tang, but he was quite new( about 1m in the tank). He also died very quickly, vigorously eating and active one day, dead the next.
Irregardless, tank params. are good, 0 nitrate, ammonia, nitrate. Have an established 65 + 10 sump.
I suspect it's a possible infection, I have moved the fish to a quarantine tank and have done a fresh dip in methaline blue. Any ideas what this is?

Have you thought about the possibility of oxygen depletion? Are the spots raised or does it appear to be under scales? When was your move and or tank transfer?

Tank has been up for about 1.5 m now. The move went remarkably well, did not have any losses, coral or fish. Looks like the end is near for him, very little motion, breathing slower, all the wrong things to see. Bummer....

Unfortunately it sounds like an internal bacteria infection, something like vibriosis. You could try some, Maracyn 2 or Malachite green but it may be to late. Kind if sucks. I feel for you...

Yeah.... He just took a swim down the porcelain slide. Sucks! Thanks for you help, have to keep a close eye on the others now. Think I might hook up that old UV light I have in the garage :)

sorry to hear...
try using medic by polylab in the future. its reefsafe. I seen a similar marking on a yellow tang and it cured it...

I will have to give that a shot next time, thanks! Looks like the active ingredient is good ole metronidazole - good anti fungal.
