Sick Galazia brown jelly? Please help!

Hi there, I purchased a galaxia a few days ago and he has not been getting along very well. I noticed a few nights ago what looked like brown jelly all over him...

My parameters are checking out, and have been stable for weeks. I took him out and basted off/scrubbed it off - which resulted in a much more ****ed off galaxia. I now know I won't keep it all alive, but can it be salvaged?

I am lost either way, hopefully someone will see this picture and know what options I have left. I have never run into this problem before and it is making me want to pull my hair out.

If you have any ideas at all, please let me know. I am willing to try anything, I really don't want to lose him.

Thanks

I really have no idea how something like this takes hold so quickly. He was not bleached at all like that a few days ago. The more research I do the more it seems he must have been improperly fragged.

I Have no idea, my torch coral and everyone else are thrilled to be alive. So disappointing.

Cut off the infected area i.e. garden shears, wetsaw, dremel, etc. If you have to cut a few live polyps so be it. That as well as trying to feed the rest of the coral at least every other day until it has fully bounced back and you have a decent chance of it surviving. Don't forget to remove the dead/dying part from the tank.

Just make it as clean as possible, try not to burn any flesh. This should be an easier first frag for you. If you're unsure I bet there's a how-to on fragging in the propagation forum.

Ya I have been doing a lot of research before doing this, if I can salvage anything I will. It's really interesting to see how much of a beating these things can take. I just did an Iodine dip and he is looking better. Really obnoxious disease, it's making me weary of doing any more LPS for a while. When I upgrade to a larger tank may be a better time.

So as an update, I decided yesterday for the second time to separate and Iodine/RO dip him. Seems to have worked, today he has a lot (not all) of his polyps extended, and the ones that are not extending are still very much there.

So far no sign of the brown slime. Will keep my eyes on him, everyone else is doing great... Although in all the movement my torch was too close to one of my Kolts, so the kolt is ****ed off naturally. Going to have to rearrange, running out of space fast.
