Sick-looking Royal Gramma

My RG has taken a turn for the worst.

He's been in the tank 6 months and there has been no aggresion between tankmates that I've noticed.

Just recently he's been resting on the rocks, and when he's swimming his tail fin has wha I can only describe as a 'pinched' appearance.

He's still eating, but his appetite is not what it was...

I'm running UV, there's no sign of ich in the tank.

Anybody got any thoughts/suggestions, please ? :(

Food/nutrition, injury, and water quality issues come to my mind as being at the top of the list.

Start feeding as if the fish is ill, according to this post:

Check all water quality parameters, even ones you think are okay, with fresh test kits.

After the above tests, perform a large water change (70%) AND then do another round of water tests.

Let us know how things are going.

Thanks for the link !

He's looking a little better today, a little more active, tail less pinched.

I've been pretty good with food variety, I think - I feed 2 types of flake, a mix of two types of pellet, nori (not that the gramma touches that !) and a cube of frozen (either mysis, krill, Diamond Entree or Marine Mix). Not all ay once, obviously, but little and often, usually 3 times a day.

I'm getting zero readings for ammonia and nitrites, 10ppm nitrates - this has been 'normal' in my tank for 16 months now. Water changes have been 15% every 2 weeks but I'll increase that in the short term. pH, alkalinity, temp are all stable.

I appreciate the reply :)
