I ordered seahorses from your site a little over a week ago. Before ordering, I even checked with you on here regarding health and if they are eating mysis seahorse.
This was my original posting on August 9th:
Hi, I noticed that you guys have tank raised horses now. The price is great! However, when its usually that cheap I've found that they tend to be pen-raised horses from asia that are disease-prone. But I've ordered from your company before and have always had a good experience. So I was hoping you could tell me more about your seahorses and where they are imported from. As well as how well they are feeding on frozen mysis shrimp. Thanks!
Your response on the same day:
Thank you for your inquiry to Drs. Foster and Smith. [/B] Our Seahorses are tank bred including those from Sri Lanka. All of our Seahorses are healthy and readily accept Mysis Shrimp before they are shipped. [/B]
We are happy to assure our customers that our warranty arrive alive and stay alive policy is for 14 days. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
So I ordered the seahorses. So right away I noticed problems with the seahorses eating. They would NOT readily accept Mysis shrimp. So I contacted your company a few times regarding the problem. I had to go out and buy live shrimp for the seahorses. I got one to eat a few frozen mysis with the live so I feel in a few weeks he will eventually take frozen. The other one will NOT. She will ONLY take live shrimp. Also I noticed some white/fuzzy skin which I take to be fungus growing on the seahorse. Her health seems to be declining.
This is the last email I originally sent to your company regarding the problems with these seahorses.
On the 29th of August:
Its been a week since I've gotten the seahorses. I've separated the
two so I could closely examine them further. I've gotten one to eat a
mixer of live ghost shrimp and frozen mysis. However one is still
reluctant to eat the mysis I have to offer her. She will only eat the
live ghost shrimp. I am very unsatisfied with the fact that I they
were sold as eating frozen mysis shrimp. However one will not and has
not done so. And on top of that, it seems she has also developed a
patch of fungus on the side of her stomach. I have spent so much more
money than expected on these seahorses. Live shrimp cost XX times the
amount of money frozen costs. Thats why I decided to not buy a wild
caught seahorse from the local fish shop. Ordering them via mail costs
a lot more, however I trusted your company to send me healthy, captive
bred, frozen mysis shrimp eating seahorses. But now so many more
problems have appeared. I've tried the formalin dip to see if that may
help the parasites on the shrimp. It also appears that the seahorses
may have internal parasites as well as I check forums online
highlighting certain symtoms that I have been noticing with the
seahorses. I am very unsatisfied with my first live aquaria order.
And this was your response on the 30th:
Thank you for your reply. We sincerely apologize that the one Seahorse that you purchased from us is not eating frozen Mysis Shrimp. We do recommend that when you first receive them to feed them the live feeder shrimp, as this will entice them to eat. Once you are sure that they are eating well you will be able to try to feed them the frozen mysis shrimp by gradually adding it to their diet. You may also want to try a product called Garlic Xtreme, as this will entice them to eat and help boost their immune system. You can view this product at the link below.
Unfortunately on the page that they are sold we do have it listed that when in our care we feed them a variety of frozen mysis shrimp including the live feeder shrimp. We apologize if you feel that they may have been some miscommunications. (This goes against what you told me on this previous post!!!!)
With the problems that you are having with your Seahorses we would recommend treating them with a Formilin (As I stated in the email that I JUST sent your Customer service center, I've ALREADY did the formalin dip!!! Was I not clear in my email?) Dip not the ghost shrimp. This will help rid them of any external parasites that they may have.
I feel like I've been misinformed and sold sick seahorses.
