sick snowflake?

Noticed over the weekend that 1 1/2 year old snowflake refusing shrimp or any othe foods. Also noticed his white areas are turning even whiter.
He has abandonded his normal cave. Hides half-in and half-out of live rock or under mushrooms. Lots of gasping. Seems
listless. Tank parameters are fine, zero amonia, zero nitrites, nitrates are 80 or so. Anenomes, mushrooms, leather coral, fish
all doing great. 8 small damsels in 55 gal. No changes to tank set up in last 6 months. Any ideas? Tomorrow will be about 5 days of no eating. Normally eats ever two days.

It is hard to say. Normally, it is common for these eels to go on a starvation diet every now and again. But the abrupt color change/behavior change concerns me. Try doing a water change just in case. Others would point to nitrates, but that I highly doubt has anything to do with it. WC still wouldn't hurt though, especially if you are in doubt. Can you observe any other malignant external signs? They are usually highly resistant to both normal parasites and bacteria

Yes, did 25% WC on Sunday. Got lazy and let PH get down to low 7's. Still, tank was thriving. Spent Sunday night slowly raising PH.
Will test water tonite. Eel is now losing his black.

I'm only a newbie, but here is some info that might help you to go through:

WWM snowflake eel sickness

and this one mentions pH in the 7's possibly contributing to sick snowflake:

Best luck with the sick eel, I hope he recovers for you.
