Help!
I just recently brought a pair of seagrass wrasse into my home and saved them from a tank of 16 yellow tangs at the LFS.
I noticed one of the wrasse had what appeared to be a possible battle scar from the tangs. It was also quite nervous around them. I decided to grab the pair as I couldn't break up the set and leave the little soldier alone against the tangs.
I've had the two in a QT tank since tuesday with my dragon wrasse while preparing their next location, a FOWLR aggressive tank. I was quite happy to find out they all seemed to co-exist very well and even when food was present. (Amazing for the wrasse species)
Unfortunately, a day ago the battle scarred, or so I thought, wrasse was found curled up and dead on my power jet. I removed him and checked to see if the other wrasse was ok.
Today, I noticed that the other wrasse is showing similar issues with its body. They are now a concern as I am thinking this may be either some disease due to parasite, collection method or something contagious.
The other wrasse that already died showed pink flesh exposed through the scales when found.
There is no signs on the dragon wrasse at the moment.
Here are some pictures:
Does anyone know what this may be, if there is something I can do to heal this fish, and if I should get that dragon out of there pronto?'
Thanks!
