Sick Zoa's...

I've had these for maybe 2 years now and all of the sudden most of the colony has closed up and been closed for about 2 weeks now. I dipped with Coral RX last week but have not seen any changes. I normally wouldnt worry but it has like white spots all over it and thats really out of the ordinary. Any thoughts? (Tank is only about a month old but it was all a transfer from another much more mature tank).

It appears you have the beginning zoa pox. Get some Furan and follow the dip procedure and QT for a few weeks and keep an eye on other polyps as it spreads rapidly. If RC would stop freezing up on me I could post a link. Do a search on zoa pox and good luck!

You may want to check some of your other zoas. I had this once and it spread super fast to ones across the tank. If you added something recently, I would suspect that to be the culprit. I didn't see any on they colony I bought until a week or so later....after I had broken the rock and now had it in two tanks.

I also had someone say they had a lot of luck with Furan II, but I would also take them out and QT asap.

Yeah checked up on zoa pox, that exactly what mine looks like. Thanks for the help! I'll have to get ahold of some furan-2 and treat them. Thanks!

not true..it is an zoald wives tale. Good luck with your dip, QT and keep an close eye on other polyps! BTW they are not low light, deep water polyps..The more light they get they brighter they become..good luck
