Signs of bleaching?

Bent

I got nothin'
So, now that I have my birds nest, I'm wondering what I should be looking for as signs that my LEDs are too high. The first person that says "it starts turning white", will get e-punched. :lolspin:

Seriously, what should I be looking for that would be a sign to crank down the light some? Right now I'm maxing out at around 35% blues and 30% whites/reds.

Signs of bleaching?

There really aren't too many pre bleaching signs. Just bleaching. I suppose you might notice decreased polyp extension but I have never noticed it. I have also not had much luck with bringing them back once bleached. Those corals I have had bleach have probably a 70/30 loss rate. What I would do if you are really concerned is frag the coral. Place the frag high up and the rest on the bottom. The top frag will bleach first if the lights are too bright. If they are way to bright they might both bleach though.

Hmm. I got the BN a few days ago and so far so good. I'm going to try pulling the lights up by 5% a week and hopefully that works out.

I raised my lights by 1% per week until I reached about 80% intensity. This is using two radion gen 2s. 5% will probably be fine depending on your light. I just prefer to make things a as gradual as possible.

I actually believe that the lighting period can be just as damaging or more than the lighting intensity. Total light radiation needs to be taken into consideration either way.
