silicone tools safe for reef tank

I know that this may seem like a totally stupid question, and my gut instinct is that yes, they are 100% safe, since silicone is what our tanks (glass tanks that is) are put together with. But I am specifically referring to a silicone strainer (bought at Target). I want to hang it into the tank and put the frozen (home made) food into it for melting/dispersing into the tank. I know the discussions around draining the water off, etc. I am not looking to get into a debate over that with this thread, just verifying that leaving the silicone strainer hanging into the tank is safe for the reef inhabitants.

The strainer has no metal parts and since it is a food strainer I would expect it to not have any "anti-fungal" properties. Plus there is nothing on the packaging to indicate that it is anything other than a 100% silicone kitchen untensil.

TIA :)

you never know what chemicals it may be exposed to during the production, packaging, and shipping. With that said I personally would not worry.

I plan to wash it thoroughly prior to using it on the tank. That should take care of any chemicals that it was exposed to between it's creation and landing on our kitchen counter (at least I hope so :)).

Thanks for the feed back.
