Silicone tubing for return line?

Gosh, I didn't realize it was common; I just assumed everyone does either vinyl or PVC. Haven't seen it mentioned on any builds I've seen recently. Well, in lieu of any reason not to, I'll definitely go with it.

Yea, I am going to use it on my build soon also. It just helps isolate noises. I always hated spa-flex. It was almost as rigid at regular PVC, but was always bent. An vinyl never stays round and tries to kink. A real pain!

Some of us run silicone tubing for the entire length of line between the return pump and return fittings in the tank. Because the silicone forms smooth curves when changing direction (as opposed to a 90 degree elbow in rigid PVC), it cuts down on friction head losses, giving you slightly higher flow from the same pump.

The other nice thing about silicone is that while the initial cost is high, you will never have to replace it. I've been using the same piece of silicone hose as a siphon for the last 20 years.
