siliconing a used tank.

I just bought a used 50 gallon tank, the last people that had it said the silicone was redone when they had it and should be good for another 2 years, i also heard the stress of filling and emptying a tank is bad for the silicone and it should always be redone after purchasing a used tank, its a 50 gallonish long.

Well I would take a few things under consideration. Did they reseal the tank or did they have it done? Have you done it before? What does the silicone look like?

If it looked ok to me and looked like whoever did it knew what they were doing I would leave it. If I had any doubts I would probably redo it myself to be on the safe side.

no i havent done it be4, i heard it was easy and i heard it was tough, it looks OK, but im not sure exactly what oh is suposed to look like. it has the plastic framing around the outside so it i was to remove the silicone would i have to clamp it? they had it full when i went to look at it, no leaks or anything, i just dont want it to start in a year or somthing.
