Simple mistake = Tragic results

Did you pre-rinse your filters???? I thought they remove chlorine out of drinking water if you use something like bretta? Should get some new containers used just for your tank and nothing else for water changes......My best friend have recently lost all of her fish and she didn't know what caused it until I pointed out that she was using a pitcher that she uses for everything else after she explain everything she did with the tank that day, long conversation....lol....

No the containers I use are for my tank only...

I was looking at it today before I left for work and it isnt a brita filter… I forgot the name brand but it’s the type of filter that screws on to the faucet on the kitchen sink… I don’t think it removes chlorine either.

I guess I will have to chalk this up to a hard lesson learned…

When I started my saltwater tank a year ago I got some REALLY bad advice and made a lot of mistakes that after finding RC I am now trying to fix. Advice from people who have had SW tanks for years but do things like use tap water for years without a problem… I guess I thought I could do that too…

I will buy an RO/DI unit and slowly bring my water to where it should be thru water changes..

When I started my tanks, I used tap water too.....After awhile I learned and start buying RO water, it wasn't til recently I bought an RO/DI system because I finally have a space to put it......
