simple stand question

Thinking of going bigger...a seven foot long 200ish gallon tank. I would like to fit a 75 gallon sump beneath it, I would be using 2x4's as the basic structure of my stand and would like to offset the center vertical support in order to have about a four foot opening on one side for easy access to the 75 if for some reason it would need to be replaced or moved. It would leave about 3 feet of space on the other side making the support off center. I would then use that space for a separate refugium tank.

would this cause any trouble in supporting the tank?

i know this sounds confusing...i will work on a diagram in paint and post here again in a few minutes, but if you understand please comment.

hope this work and is easier to understand than my words.

Solid brown beams are in front of the sump and fuge and the others are obviously behind them.

I just built an 8ft long, 3ft high, 2ft deep stand...

I think the way i built mine was the easiest, and strongest... its a tank and a half. By making yours a little wider than mine you can fit a 75 in it easily. I think the inside hole is just too small to fit a 75 into it.

hey that looks like a mighty sturdy stand and I also like the tiles since you are going to see some of that surface. But do you think the the stand would be just as sturdy if the center brace (in the fron only) was off center by about a foot?

The middle braces are more used for the door openings and thats why i put them where i did. They are defin. not in the center. But i wouldnt use any less than i did, i never want to take a chance.

thanks, id figure that it would be sturdy even if the veritcal support is a bit off center, I would then use a couple extra on the back (non visable) side with on right in the middle. Looking at your stand has me thinking if it will be wide enough to slid both tank underneath in from the side. Intresting...

I think it should be. The top is 24 3/4" so subract the 7" for the 2X4's on the side you get .... 17 3/4". The size of the opening on the side. But if you went to like 26" you would get a 19" opening, just enough for a 75 gallon sump tank :-D
