Hey all
So my pair of shrimp used to spawn all the time. But now my single cleaner shrimp is full of eggs. It has been alone for at least 10 months. The only change has been the addition of a couple of sexy shrimp a few weeks ago. Could this have triggered egg bearing? They can't be fertilized, right? Weird
Any thoughts?

They're hermaphroditic, all are capable of producing eggs but they will not be fertilized w/o another of the same species in the tank.

cool, thanks.
good fish food, i assume it will release them into the water column ?..

Nope, the eggs will hatch but nothing will happen.

If a single female is in the tank she'll make eggs, and they'll all hatch to be duds.

If a male was introduced they may mate and breed releasing larvae into the water column for fish to eat.
