Sinularia

I got this frag of Sinularia at the SCMAS frag swap. I've got a mixed tank, got this piece over to one corner. I was wondering if it is as "dangerous" as I've been reading.

It's grown since I got it a couple of weeks ago, has great polyp extention. Any advice on keeping this animal with LPS and SPS.

Here's a pic:

Thanks for the help.

I'd run carbon to be safe, but I don't think it's much to worry about. It's a real looker, nice score :)

hardy, but don't place 2 close 2 others, esp sps. charcoal would b good & safe. grow quickly so leave room and frag if gets 2 big.

it looking nice and happy. enjoy!!

Appears to be green nepthea. Not as bad as some sinularia or sarcophyton. Nontheless, running carbon is always wise to limit allelopathy.

Sinularia is alleopathic. It secretes chemicals that will disrupt other coral, perhaps kill them, especially SPS. It is not a good idea to mix this in an SPS tank. I got it at a frag swap and I'm not too sure I want to keep it. It's doing great in the tank, but...

Who know.

well i got this from a friend, and got some more from a frag workshop, along with kkenya tree, bird's nest, some other hard coral thats not living lol...tons of xenia

i just figured i was safe because most of this was kept in tanks together in the zoo i got it from, though a very very very large tank
