well here it is, the DD skeletor. Quite an active eel as in its out in the open a fair amount of the time. eats like crazy, will be seeing about aggression as it grows.

explains why my research said pebble tooth and this one is anything but, no moray expert either lol. been in contact with DD will see what they say and do. Either way Tessie has to go as it will be too aggressive for this tank. Thanks good catch :)
 
I'm am a bit relieved as well, since your comment about the teeth you were seeing had me pretty nervous! :lol:
 
i agree, i should have checked more closely when i started to notice discrepencies such as the teeth etc, however comming from a trusted source like DD and not wanting to bug the new arrival too much i let it slide till i took these pics and really looked at the eel with a comparison pic of what it should look like after Moray keeper pointed it out and saved the day (or should that be tankmates ?), thanks again. :) I'm relieved that i found out now before its too late. My research pointed the skeletor to be similar to the snowflake but not much is written about them so here i was puzzling away lol. Now its what to do as this eel isnt planned for and with 11 tanks running I'm not really looking at setting up another. I sent the pic to DD and they say they will get back to me so hope we can get this resolved.
 
I have spoken to DD, about an hour ago and sent them a picture. They sent me a mail saying they have received it and have sent it to their aquaculture coral and marine life facility for id and will contact me with a response. I'm waiting and will update as soon as I get it. I tend to only buy from DD to try and prevent this kind of mess plus they have a great reputation so I'm giving them some time to do the right thing. It is a beautiful eel but not the one I ordered and paid for, plus not the type I'm set up to keep, so ........... Watch this space hopefully it's a happy ending
 
I wouldn't worry about them making everything right for you, money-wise. But, I wonder if the person that ordered the tessie got the skeletor instead?
 
Thats what I'd also like to know. I'm sure they'll refund me however what i really want is the eel i ordered plus what to do with this one?

this is a pic of when i got it. Ugh mistakes happen but it sucks when it happens to you.
 
4:30pm still no reponse from DD. I called them again, someone should get back to me today I'm told but they're still waiting for someone at their coral farm to look at the pic and verify the error. This is not the type of service Ive come to expect from DD.
 
ok so i call again, the skeletor did go to the person who had ordered the tessy apparently and tough luck for me but i get credited back my order. :( Not a happy ending - getting your money back for something you ordered but didn't get doesn't really make me happy. I now have to set up a temp eel proof tank for the tessy and find someone who can properly take care of it, and as for the skeletor i ask? .....Their response ;well its a rare eel so they will see about finding another and get back to me.
Mistakes happen i get it, its how it gets dealt with that makes a difference. My confidence in DD's What You See Is What You Get has taken a major knock. Up until now i have had great faith in them. My greatest issue with all of this is how i have to take the moral responsibility for finding a good home for this eel when DD hasn't. FOWLRs arent real popular around here and I won't just dump it where it won't be taken care of. I already have way to many species tanks so wish me and the eel good luck.

Why wont DD let you send back to eel because it was their fault? and does the guy that got the skeletor eel going to return the skeletor? Its a shame that this happened with DD, i would of thought it would of happened going through the regular LA. good luck.
 
Yes it sucks or bites! Seems DD What you see is what you get is actually what you see is what someone else gets, but no worry we will refund you and by the way we hope you will respect the life of the wrong animal we sent you and find it a home. Apologising repeatedly but not resolving the issue, wow it's not what I expected from them. The tessy and I are going to have the same frame of mind when I have to catch it and put it in the temp tank.
 
If you have the capability bto ship the animal back, I'm sure they would take it. But do you?
