Hi all,

I had my heard set on a Tunze 9430 DOC Skimmer but I was recently offered a Reef Octopus Elite 200 INT at a very good price.

On the one hand I trust the Tunze brand. On the other hand the Reef Octopus has a controllable DC pump and float switch on the skimmer cup.

More importantly though, what is throwing me a bit is the difference in rating. I have a total system volume of 700 litres. According to Tunze their 9430 would be a touch over spec for a heavily stocked tank (sounds good to me!). The Reef Octopus on the other hand says the Elite 200 INT is suitable for 1500 litres. Using the double water volume rule of thumb this is perfect.

Otherwise, both would fit in my sump, offer silent, efficient running and both have a good reputation. Assuming they are both suitable, which would you choose?
