Skimmer expoxy advise please.

Yesterday I added a few frags and expoxied a few down that I already had. My HOB skimmer went crazy. I shut it down for a day and tried again today with the same results. I just did a water change on Saturday. Am I going to stuck doing another one just so I can run my skimmer or will this calm down. Please advise.

Id keep it running. If you have an air check valve stick it in the air line and dial it down. My skimmer goes crazy too this helps.

I've tried dialing it down still just overflowing the cup. Not sure what you mean by sticking an air check valve in the air line. Do you mean on the silencer tube coming out of the skimmer.

He means reduce the amount of air the skimmer is sucking in. This will help a little bit..

Might just do 3 or 4 decently sized water changes over a few days, that will help too.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of epoxy are you using? I use that JB WaterWeld all the time, and my skimmer never does this. My arm in the tank, along with the epoxy almost causes the skimmer to stop working for awhile, as opposed to bubbling over.

I use JB Waterweld also and I've use it before 1 or two frags at a time. I think the problem was I secured down 7 frags at one time. The few I got the other day and some more I already had in the tank. Maybe too much at one time

I did 2.5 gallon water change and tuned it down not much change. The cup still fills in a few minutes and micro bubbles everywhere. Never had an issue with micro bubbles. Do I pull the skimmer and give it a vinegar bath or just continue with small water changes. I hate to leave the skimmer off this long. It's been off since Monday. May sound stupid but it's part of my water flow. I do have 2---425 nano power heads and a hob 50 gallon filter but the way I have them setup that skimmer provides movement on the left side of my tank.

I used 2 sticks of Epoxy when I was doing rockscape. It would not stop overflowing. I opened the waste gate and let the waste water back into the sump. Went on vacation for a week, STILL FOAMING!! Forum recommended a massive water change. ~50%.. skimmer went back to normal after.

i use BSI gel now. no more epoxy

An addition 5 gallon water change today made the difference and my skimmer settled down. Live and learn will not be doing that again. Thanks for all the advise.
