skimmer help?????

I have an mtc pro4500s skimmer, bought used not instruction manual, not sure if im running it right, anyone have any info that could help

What isnt running noramally with it?
If it isnt skimming, or is over skimming or just is being retarded it may have to break in.

ive had it for awhile and I dont feel like its skimming what it should be, im not sure if I hooked up the return from the skimmer to the sump correctly, I dont know if its supposed to be elevated or level
