Skimmer Opinions

I am in the process of setting up a 120 Gallon tank and am ready for a new skimmer. I have been using a My Reef Creation MR-1 for the past year on a 75 Gals and have been happy with it's performance. Just want to make sure that what I get is efficient at removing waste. I have been thinking about the My Reef Creations MR-2 or MR-2R (Recirculating model) Does anyone know are the recirc models worth it (additional cost for skimmer ,add elec second pump) or are they a gimmick. If anyone has opinions on other models like the Tunze DOC or other please let me know.
I don't have a fortune but I do want to get a good skimmer. I plan on using the tank for SPS with just a few fish.

The good thing about MRC is that they can be upgraded.....just add a section to the reaction chamber and it's a 2. Then if $ allows a second beckett and bigger pump and it should be more than enough to handle a 120.

Thanks Mike I guess that your also happy with your skimmer. I see that MRC changed the supply to the beckett and increased connection size to 1" which should be an inprovement over previous. I was going to run the return and supply the skimmer with a Sequence Dart at least initially and see how it goes. Possibly add a second dedicated pump if unsatisfied with Dart powering both. What model Sequence do you operate.

yea MRC switched to 1" for more flow. I'm using a Dart for my return and only a Mag 18 for the skimmer, but everyone tells me that a pressure rated pump is the way to go with becketts. The Dart will work, but it isn't pressure rated.
