Skimmer question. (BM-180csp)

I recently got a used skimmer for my 30 frag tank.. It is a bubble Magnus bm-180 csp. I got in a package deal with the set-up. The pump was shot is I just purchased a new sicce pump and stuck it in some freshwater to make sure it worked. Worked fine but noisey as heck... Will this quiet down in salt water?? The pump is on the outside of the skimmer and isn't touching anything..

i dont think the salt would change the sound emitted. if anything if not maintained would get louder with salt buildup and/or precipitation.'
