skimmer question?

How big of a system needs skimmed?

This skimmer would have to be modified or built with a needle wheel pump to recirc instead of being primarily fed using a needle wheel pump. You could then feed this skimmer using 'any pump' or even by diverting some of your overflow to it (many have different opinions by feeding skimmers by overflows).
Instead of using Uniseals you could drill and thread the fittings. I trust Uniseals (if installed properly). The water that exits this skimmer could be routed back to your sump.
Personally I prefer a large sump so that when/if the skimmer goes bonkers/overflows the worst that can happen is it all goes back into the sump. You may want to tap into the collection cup and plumb a drain to a decent sized container to catch your skimmer waste, but even that won’t stop the floor from getting all wet unless the hose leads to the sump (which does you no good).
