Skimmer question

Do you guys run these constant, or occasionally?

Mine turns off at 9pm and back on at 3am and this is just in case I feed something that skimming will take out of the water. Oyster eggs for example

Mine skims constantly. I thought about putting it on a timer, but decided not to. I have too many fish for it not to be running 24/7.
