I think Tropical World has Coralife salt on sale for $29

Does the tank have anything in it yet? If not, why not drill it?

Reggae Fish,

The tank is still empty. I'm still in the planning stage. Trying to pick up as much stuff used as possible, on a limited budget.. dont laugh....

I sold my 250 gallon a few years back, and am just getting back into it. I would rather drill, but there's a larger sticker on the bottom of the tank which says "DONT DRILL" tempered glass. I found the tank on CraigsList...I couldnt turn down a 75g w/stand for $100.

You think it's safe to drill?

I'm probaly only going to do a FOWLR @ first... but we all know how that goes. Give me 6 months, and I'll have some softies/LPS. SPS's are prob out of scope for this tank.

Right now I'm just going to put in a CPR overlfow(1200gph) with an over-the-wall return from the sump. I figure by the time I drill the back and buy all the pluming, It will be about the same cost.

yea - no doubt that worries the shxx out of me, but the CPRs have an air pump, which should give some protection agains floods. Also my return pump cant pump 1200gph.... and yes- new flooring would SUK...

like I said I'm still in the planning stage. So ,where should I take my tank to get drilled? Also do I have to put some soft of overflow boxes in?

The only place I know that drills is Marine Solutions.

Talk to schplitter about overflow boxes. He does good acrylic work.

Personally I would never trust a CPR overflow. If it needs a pump to keep it clear it is a defective design. I have used U-Tube style overflows for quite a while now and they do work and are reliable. Mine has never failed to start after a power outage. There are many available and decently priced. I use a QuietFlow and it has been flawless. I also have a cheap e-bay knockoff that also performed perfectly. Do a google search on cpr overflows and you will find a lot of unhappy people who had major water damage from them.
