Skimmer Size

I want to start growing SPS and I keep reading people saying to get a big oversized skimmer. I am in the market for a new skimmer (Beacuse my Euroreef is a POS IMO) and was wondering what size I should get for my tank. I am looking at the deltecs. I dont have a heavy fish load and the tank is a 210 with a 50g sump.

Thanks,
John

get the biggest most expensive thing you can, j/k on the expensive part. put a price range that you have and you will get more replys, also do you want beckett or nw.

there are many variables to picking a skimmer and they all, if properly setup, work very well.

I would suggest a skimmer rated for at least 3x's your tank volume. My Mr-4 is rated for about 3.5x's my tank volume. Also get the biggest pump they recomend or you will not get the output, I'm sure you know that though. Happy reefkeeping!!!

Give Doug at Deltec a call...he's great. I purchased an AP 902 for my 260 reef and there are times it quits skimming for lack of nutrients in the water. I too use to use ER and although I liked it, the Deltec is much better IMO.

I have an AP702 in a 150 gallon tank and I love it. The tanks has never been beter. Used to own an ETSS 800 and MRC MR-2 and there is no way you can compare performance (well..... the AP702 is bigger).

I know they are expensive..... but you won't see any Deltec users complaining or with regrets because of their purchase.

I have a Deltec AP600 on my 75g and it skims very dark smelly stuff. Get a deltec, once you see the difference in coral coloration and growth you may not want to go back to another skimmer brand name.
