We have a 29 gallon biocube that has been set up for a while and we are looking for a skimmer to add to it. We already know which skimmer we want, but being that this is really our first coral we just aren't sure how to go about it.
We have about 40 lbs of live rock in the tank with a good 2 1/2" sand bed. My plan was to remove the bioballs from the 2nd chamber and add the skimmer there. Then I was planning to raise the water level in the tank to almost fill the the 2nd chamber. I also currently use a hollowed out stock filter pad insert in the first chamber that has only filter floss and occasionally carbon padding to allow better flow and to trap large waste better.
would this set up be ok?
