DOES A SKIMMER USUALLY STOP SKIMMING?

FINALLY MY SLIMY GREEN ALGAE PROBLEM IS GONE, i SKIMMED THE
HECK OUT OF IT FOR ABOUT A WEEK!

NOW IT IS HARDLY SKIMMING AT ALL.

IS THIS NORMAL?

Unless the skimmer is severly oversized, it should be skimming all the time. Did you check right after you fed the tank or had your hands in there? These things cause the foam head to fall for a few hours. What kind of skimmer is it and how old?
