skimmers

i currently have a primz skimmer and want to up grade. I need it hang on the back for now but will add a sump later. Any suggestions

I have a 54g. I've used the standard Remora w/Maxi-Jet 1200 pump and a Remora Pro w/Mag3 and 5 pumps. Both work reasonably well for the price. Their setup, operation, and maintenance are easy. And the customer support from Aqua-C is excellent.

I also have a Deltec MCE600. It's a very, very expensive skimmer. But it works very, very well. And Doug at Deltec USA is an ok guy too :)

I've read good things about the Coralife skimmer, but can't comment from any experience.

My first skimmer was a SeaClone 150. I eventually trashed it and kept the pump that I now keep in a vat just to mix sw. See the pattern yet? I only suggest get the best skimmer you can afford. There will always be some better and definately some worse.

As someone who also upgraded from the Prizm to the Remora, let me tell you that you'll love the results. Just remember, it takes a couple weeks for it to kick into full gear and regular maintenance helps to maintain its skimmate production.

I never had one but I have been hearing more and more good things about the Coralife.

I got to try one out for the shop to see if I could find any serious flaws before ordering them. I still have it :D Plus we use it on all our displays.

The only problem I noticed is about every 4-5 months the air intake needs to be cleaned out take all of about 1 minute, small price to pay for a great machine IMO.

Anyone use the Jebo PS75 skimmer???
Cause I got one and I'm having problems.....
50gal tank, 10gal sump, jebo ps75 skimmer

I've had this skimmer running about 2 weeks now and for 2 weeks straight now its sending micro-bubbles in my tank
The skimmer is about 1' tall and has a needlewheel pump that does 396gph. Whats happening is that the entire skimmer is filled with the micro-bubbles, so the return tube (that goes all the way to bottom) is sucking up all those micro bubbles. There is no "non-micro-bubble" water at the bottom. The pump has an attachment on it to add air lines. I only have 1 air line hooked up to pump. And I have plenty of mechanical filtration, but the bubbles go right through this.
I replaced the tubingââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦ the tube between the pump and skimmer is 3 /4ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ Eheim and the tube from the exit valve is 3 /4ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ Eheim.
Please see pics below!! Please help!!

This is the only thing holding me up from adding livestock. Please let me know of your suggestions and/or advice.

Sump & Skimmer

Notice the constant stream of micro-bubbles

Links don't work. Skimmer should be first in line and should receive raw tank water. return is last in line on other side of sump
once you fix your links someone will have a better idea of how to fix it. I assume your sump does not have any bubble traps. I may be wrong but it sounds like you may be trying to fix this by cutting down on the bubbles in the skimmer. That is definitely the wrong approach. The skimmer needs to be as efficient as possible.

Be forewarned that Aqua C's will put microbubbles into your system for about the first two weeks, then subside. So if you do go this route, don't think you got a junky machine; it'll fix itself.

hmmm.... I'm thinking about getting the Aqu C b/c I got a skimmer right now that has been running for about 2 weeks or more and the entire skimmer is filled with bubbles, so its putting those bubbles at the bottom of the skimmer in the tank. Maybe I'll give it another week or two, see if it subsides
