Anyone running a skimz sk181 on a larger tank? Manufacturer says its rated for up to 320gallon. I am buying equipment for a new 230 I am setting up and was wondering if this old work

I am running the Skimz DC203 and its a beast. I couldn't say on the 181 though.

You can slice that rating right in half. The biggest tank I'd put a 6" diameter skimmer on is a 160 gallons unless the 6" skimmer is a 4' tall beckett.

Hi, every one.

I am from Brazil and own a Skimz 181, and now I am not at home.
I am buying from Avast Marine a neck auto cleaner.
But I need to know the dimensions of neck and lid.
Can somebody help me?

My tank is 130g and with high stock.
I think 181 is not enough.
Because of this I am buying neck cleaner.

No way a sk181 will cut the mustard.. I had it on a 105g (heavily fed/stocked) and feel I was at its limits and upgraded. Great skimmer though

Neck is 3 -5/8" I. D. lid is 7.5" o. d. ( inside ring is 5-3/8" I. D.)

Good luck with the Skimz products. I run two (2) SM251's and a SM121 on my tanks. In the two years I have owned them, I have replaced all the pumps at least once. The impeller's will also swell, crack and sieze up. Some of these failures were covered under warranty, some not.

On at least three occassions, the cords on the pumps have leaked enough electricity that I have been shocked. These pumps were replaced by the retailer.

I would have jettissoned these POS's a long time ago, but they are the only skimemrs that will fit in my sump under my 250G DD's.

Caveat emptor.

Ended up with a Reef Octopus SSS-5000. The thing is a beast on my system just over 400 gallons.
