sleeper banded goby

I have a sleeper banded goby (Amblygobius phalaena) in my 180g, which I chose for sand clean-up duties because of their reputation for being easy to keep.

Well, mine has gotten quite skinny over the past month or so. He's been in the tank for 3-4 months and sifts sand constantly. But I've never seen him eat anything out of the water column. He doesn't have any competition in the sand bed other than a couple of nass snails, and he doesn't seem nervous around the other fish.

Any ideas for how to fatten this guy up would be great.

I've been adding some sinking pellets to the tank each evening for a few days now, hoping he may at least accidentally get some in him when he's busy sifting during the day. I can't imagine there's not enough food in there for this guy... wondering if he might have a parasite or something? No other signs except that he's very skinny.
