Sleeping Sea Star?

After much waiting, I came across an orange sea star small enough for my pico! It's been about a week since I got him and everything seems great but he did something really ODD tonight. It was a progressive thing that I watched over a span of a couple hours:

First he was just sticking in a normal position on the glass. Then one by one his arms started to un-stick. Eventually he was backwards and upside down holding on by one arm. Then he fell to to bottom of the tank so i quickly moved him to a safe area away from the branching hammer.

When I looked at him, he was pretty much closed (all his tentacles were covered by "skin"), Now he is slightly open and sticking to the bottom of the wall.

So my question is, was he just sleeping or is that a sign of something bad?

It's not really a sign of anything, but there really are no stars besides Asterina that are suitable for a pico. I suspect you have Fromia, which need large tanks despite their small size. Their diet is unknown but the best guess is that they graze on bio-films that grow on LR. Because their diet can't be supplemented they typically don't do well long-term in tanks smaller than about 100 gals.
