Small Urchin-like creature spotted at night

Hi, are Urchins afraid of light? I ask because I spotted something that looked like small Urchin, it was scary looking black thing which was round in shape and had things/spikes extending in all directions but not many of these, like a few and was moving slowly like snail and as soon as I pointed light at it it started to move into shade. It also appeared to have many long thin tentacles which it used to know what's around it.
First time I saw this and it wasnt pretty, at first I thought its a spider but then noticed the spites extending in all directions.
Couldn't take picture it was pitch black and I used flashlight.
Any ideas what it was?

Sounds like an urchin! Id leave him in there. Most are nocturnal.

Sounds like an urchin to me. They do like to hide while the lights are on. They are hunters for scraps and algae at night.

Looks like a pencil urchin to me. I got a tiny one in as a HH and have had him for over 4 years now.
